A Surprise Dollhouse, New Beds, And A Little Spring Cottage
Hi! I’m currently hiding out in my studio writing this with my AC cranked. It hit 90 degrees here today but the feels-like temp because of our humidity was actually 95 degrees. Blech! I do not need any help feeling hotter than I already do. If you are of a certain age you can commiserate, I’m sure!
I got myself into a little trouble this last weekend. The good kind! I found a vintage dolllhouse for sale out on the coast at a thrift shop that I just had to have! I convinced my husband to take a day off and we went and got it. I’m so excited to transform this beauty! I paid a measly $65 for it, I could not believe my good fortune! I have since seen vintage kits for sale on EBay, if you’d like one for yourself.
The model is the Linwood, by Duracraft. Here is what she looked like before I started my renovation.

She has good bones but wowza she’s busy! Don’t worry, I’ll take care of that.
Here I had painted her out white to see if I could quiet the details. Nope, I’m going to need to get my heat gun out and remove quite a bit of brick-a-brack !

Lots of demo has since ensued. I will update you on my progress next week!
Also I want to share my two latest little antique beds. They each come with a little matching side table. Each bed has antique bedding made from bits of old hankies and doilies and bits from my linen stash. I have tea dyed dyed the hankie coverlet, and both of the coverlets have been realistically draped, rumpled, and glued to stay put. A little hand stitched pillow to completes the cozy look. They are available for purchase at $199 for each set, (shipping is free! US only) Feel free to email me if you’re interested!
I will be listing them in my Etsy shop on the 8th if they don’t sell here.
Here are some pics of the two available little bedroom sets!

This antique hankie coverlet is very shabby chic! I have tea stained it for an extra romantic look. It features a lovely crochet border.

Isn’t the little side table sweet? The drawer even opens! What would you keep stashed there?

This little coverlet is a snowy white cotton. It drapes softly, just touching the floor for a realistic look.

Lastly, I had a bit of a play this morning… still in my nightgown and sipping my coffee. Dollhousing is therapeutic like that, isnt it? The light streaming in my window was so perfect that I had to take some pictures of it all. I have Forget-Me-Not Cottage decorated for Spring, and starring one of my new bedroom sets.

Shabby whites and creams and an antique hankie coverlet. The pillow is softly filled with natural wool roving.

Table for two?

A little side garden and potting up area.

A second outdoor patio area for sipping sweet tea with friends.

A cozy front porch, complete with a new Spring wreath.
Well! I hope you enjoyed my little photo shoot.
If you fancy any new Spring decor for your dollhouse you will find most of the things included in my garden decor available in my Etsy shop. This little cottage is available there as well!
Next week I will have a little DIY Spring/Summer stone patio tutorial for you if all goes as planned! It will be removable, so you can just set your dollhouse down on top of it when you want to and stash it away when you’re done! I will be using very inexpensive supplies that will be easy for you to find. It can be easily changed out/customized for the seasons. Stay tuned for that!
